Steps taken
to ensure law, order Kathmandu, Mar. 27 (RSS): Minister of State for Home Devendra Raj Kandel has said that His Majesty's Government has efficiently mobilised all the security units for maintenance of law and order and safeguarding the life and property of the people in the country. Minister of State Kandel, speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives today, said that His Majesty's Government is very sensitive about the undesired activities of violence, arson and vandalism being carried out by the terrorists in the past few days. Stating that the security forces have been asked to launch an extensive search for the persons being involved in these activities, Kandel said that His Majesty's Government will not lag behind in taking any action to control terrorist activities. Informing the House that the terrorists had exploded a bomb at the temporary police beat at Patan Dhoka at 6:00 a.m. this morning, he said that two policemen were injured in the explosion. The Minister of State said that the terrorists had exploded a bomb at the Chhinche road project office, Surkhet at 5:00 a.m. this morning and caused damage to the office building. The terrorists also kidnapped member of the NC general convention Ganesh Shahi and another person and killed them, he said, adding that the security forces reached the site of the incident and have been launching an extensive search for the terrorists in the area. Stating that the terrorists had hurled a petrol bomb at Ba. 1 Jha. 5389 vehicle being used by MP Bharat Mohan Adhikary at Sunargaun of Kalanki at 6:00 a.m. yesterday causing minor damage to the vehicle, Kandel said that the police personnel immediately reached the site of the incident and arrested three suspicious persons and initiated investigation. The terrorists also hurled a petrol bomb at the Melamchi Drinking Water Project office located at Baneswore at a round 6:00 a.m. yesterday and caused minor damage to the building, he added. The Minister of State for Home also informed the House that the terrorists had hurled a petrol bombs at the government vehicle Ba. 1 Jha, 3482 near Ganga Cinema Hall, Balaju and another government vehicle Ba. 1 Jha. 5950 at Balaju and two vehicles in a garage located at Kalanki yesterday and caused damage to the vehicles. The terrorists also set ablaze the ilaka administration office at Kawasoti of Nawalparasi and damaged the building, he said. The terrorists hurled a petrol bomb at the Ba. 1. Jha 5379 vehicle used by MP Surendra Pandey and damaged the vehicle at Kuleswore on March 24, he said, adding that the terrorists hurled petrol bomb at the vehicle of Nepal Electricity Authority at Dhumbarahi causing injury of two persons and damage to the vehicle on the same day. The Minister of State said that terrorists had exploded a bomb in the second floor toilet of Gorkhapatra Sansthan located near Bhugol Park causing minor damage to the building and shattering a few window panes of the Nepal Bank Limited office on the same day. Kandel said that terrorists also hurled petrol bombs at the Ba. 3 Cha. 5914 vehicle near Jorpati, Kathmandu and Ba.1 Kha 2866 truck at Lele of Lalitpur district causing damage to the vehicles. The Minister of State for Home informed the House that the terrorists had set fire on the Kodobari, Jyamirkot, Topgachhi, Mahabhara, Satasidham and Babundhara VDC building in Jhapa district on March 23 and caused damage to the buildings. The terrorists also damaged the buildings of Laxmipur and Srianti village development committees of Ilam district by setting it ablaze on the same night, he added. The terrorists also set ablaze Memeng VDC building on March 21 and Ranitar VDC building on March 24 and damaged a truck Na. 2 Kha. 3917 at Fidim VDC-9 of Panchthar district on March 24, he said. A few persons involved in these incidents have been arrested by the security personnel and investigation initiated against them. No one can attain his objective through violence, murder and terrorist activities, Kandel said, adding that His Majesty's Government is making special efforts to contain terrorist activities. The Minister of State for Home expressed the hope that the MPs would continue to provide suggestions and cooperation to maintain law and order and control terrorist activities in the country.
