Koteshwore Sans Vegetable Market

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has certainly done much for the development of the city. The drastic change the people could see was possible only due to the constant efforts of KMC. The narrow roads have been widened. Now we have half a dozen of wide overhead bridges and several tiny gardens on the roadside. We even have a Mandala at Maitighar junction. These changes have certainly given a good look to the city. Moreover, KMC has been successful to manage the vegetable markets of the city. Besides Kalimati, we now have a well-managed vegetable market at Minbhawan. However, KMC has not yet managed the vegetable markets of New Baneshwore and Koteshwore. Though there is a temporary vegetable market at New Baneshwore, there is none at Koteshwore after KMC removed the old one. As a result the Koteshwore people have to go either to Minbhawan or Lagankhel to buy vegetable and fruits. Similarly, the people who used to earn their livelihood by selling the vegetables in the local market are now jobless. Can KMC not set up a well-managed vegetable market at Koteshwore as it did at Minbhawan?
