Revamp NTC

Vehicle entrepreneurs do have both respect and riches in the society. But the case is quite opposite with the government. The government was the owner of Nepal Transport Corporation (NTC) and had hundreds of vehicles plying along different routes of the country serving people and making money as well. Surprisingly, the government could not earn despite getting vehicles from China and Japan free of cost. The Sajha and Trolley buses used to be always packed with passengers. Yet the government could not earn and at last it liquidated the corporation.

In the absence of Trolley and Sajha beses the passengers are having a tough time. Sajha buses used to be safest, fastest and reliable means of transportation among the passengers. During Dashain there used to be a long queue of passengers at Sundhara ticket counter. That was not merely because of peoples’ love with the vehicles of the government run corporation but the credit Sajha had earned. Now that the Sajha and trolley facilities have been cut down, people are compelled to travel by public buses. The private vehicle owners charge more money and give a lot of trouble to the passengers if the seats of such vehicles at times remain empty.

Is it not possible for the government to revamp the corporation and continue to serve the people along with earning money by checking corruption?
