Surya Lights launched

Kathmandu, May 12: Surya Tobacco Company launched a new brand of cigarette – Surya Lights – in Kathmandu Valley beginning today.

"We launched Surya Lights keeping in view the increasing demand of the lights cigarettes in the country," Company’s Vice President Siddhartha Wanchoo told a press conference here this afternoon. "We want to replace the foreign lights brands that lose freshness by the time they arrive here."

Wanchoo said Surya Lights with its international standard design, an elegant vignetted pack, a unique taste signature and micro laser ventilator is the most exclusive lights cigarette ever launched in the country.

"With the launch of Surya Lights, lights seeking cigarette consumers will delight in a brand that compares with the best that the world has to offer," said Wanchoo. "The brand has an exquisite taste created through the careful selection and blending of the finest tobaccos from around the world." He said the Surya Lights was expected to cater to the demand of 20 per cent consumers.

Manufactured after intensive product planning, Surya Lights will be priced at Rs. 49 for a pack of 20 sticks and Rs. 24.50 for a pack of 10 sticks, he said.

Wanchoo said in addition to the launch of Surya Lights, Kathmandu will witness a once in a lifetime event – The Surya Lights Treasure Hunt. The event is planned for June 15th 2002 where a hundred lucky winners will participate.

According to the Company, participants will be divided into four groups of 25 each. They will flag off from Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza and will be given a map to collect clues. There will be 25 clues a participant will need to solve. The ones who solve the maximum number of clues in the shortest time will be the winner and runner up in each group. The overall winner will fly to Singapore with a companion and others will get 29" TV/ DVD players, Tissot watches and mobile phone sets on the basis of their position.
