‘Germany’s assistance very praiseworthy’

German envoy in Kathmandu has pledged to assist Nepal in its development of various sectors.

"Germany will do its best in extending its assistance in the development of agriculture, tourism and industrial sectors," German Ambassador Rudiger Lemp told a Nepal Chambers Commerce (NCC) delegation led by President Rajesh Kaji Shrestha.

"Nepal has a great potential for developing agriculture and tourism sectors. To do so, the country must aspire to use the improved fertilizer and modern agricultural tools. The economy of Nepal will be further consolidated if it makes its service in tourism sector more effective," Lemp told the delegation.

On the occasion, NCC president Shrestha said that the Germany’s assistance to Nepal had been very praiseworthy. Since Nepal has been passing through a difficult phase, it is in need of more financial and technical assistance, he added.

As the nation’s tourism and business sector are witnessing most difficult of times, the Nepali entrepreneurs expect assistance from the friendly countries like Germany, Shrestha said. "The Nepalese unemployed youth would become production oriented if Germany could provide technical and vocational training to these youths."

The carpet, garment, handicraft and tourism industry in the country has suffered the adverse effects ever since Germany’s Lufthansa Airlines terminated flights to Kathmandu, Shrestha said emphasizing the need of the resumption of flights to the both countries.
