Chand Cabinet expanded 13 new faces added By A Staff Reporter KATHMANDU, Nov. 18: His Majesty King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, on the recommendation of Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand, today added 13 new faces to the existing council of ministers in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal - 2047. The strength of the council of ministers has, thus, reached 22. A press statement issued by the Royal Palace said eight new ministers and five assistant ministers have been added in the expanded cabinet. The new members come from various political parties, the business community, intellectuals and other walks of life. According to the statement, the portfolios and works of the ministers are as follows: His Majesty the King had on October 11 formed a 9-member
council of ministers under the premiership of Chand by activating Article 127 of the
Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal. Earlier on October 4, His Majesty the King had
dismissed the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his government after he expressed
his inability to hold the general election as scheduled on November 13, citing security
problems.
