Crown Prince inaugurates police hospital in Nepalgunj

NEPALGUNJ, Nov. 27 : His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Paras Bir Bikram Shah Dev inaugurated the newly constructed Birendra Police Regional Hospital amidst a special function held at Nepalgunj today.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince observed with keen interest the hospital building and the services available at the hospital.

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince gave away letters of appreciation to Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Prasad Guragain, chief of the hospital Dr, Min Raj Pathak and Hari Kumar Shrestha for their remarkable contributions in the construction of the hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital, HRH the Crown Prince was accorded a warm welcome by Home Minister Dharma Bahadur Thapa, Inspector General of Police Pradip Shumsher JB Rana and other senior officials.

On the occasion, Home Minister Thapa said construction of the hospital will help provide health services to the police personnel, who have devoted themselves in police service.
Stating that the police personnel have been discharging their duties with high moral to maintain law and order situation at a difficult situation in the country, he said the police organisation has started a creative work of hospital construction which will encourage other organisations to do some works for the country.

Inspector General of Police Pradip Shumsher JB Rana said hundreds of police have sacrificed their lives in the course of their services to control terrorism in the country. He also informed that the police organisation has decided to set up hospitals in all the five development regions to provide the health services to the police personnel. Deputy Inspector General of Police Krishna Basnet informed that the hospital was constructed with the contributions of His Majesty's Government, Police Welfare Fund and the voluntary works of the police personnel.

Director of the Birendra Police Hospital Dr. Kashi Ram Kunwar said the hospital will be very important to provide health services to the police personnel in the Mid Western Development Region which is considered to be very sensitive area.

The 19-bed hospitals has two medical doctors. The hospital has the facilities of x-ray, laboratory, emergency and general surgery. Now, the hospital has one ambulance. Constructed at an area of two bighas of land, worth about Rs. 10 million, the hospital was built at a cost of Rs. 7.3 million and 4.1 million rupees were spent on furniture and equipment.
