Actress Karki's suicide case takes new turn KATHMANDU, Oct. 20: The suicide of film actress Shrisha Karki is taking new twist and turn with the name of film producer Sunita Khadka being linked to the case. The Nepal Film Producers' Association (NFPA) today handed over Khadka to the District Police Office at Hanumandhoka. "We handed over producer Khadka to the police after she approached us this morning so that it would become easier for the authorities to look into Shrisha's suicide case," general secretary of NFPA Ashok Sharma told The Rising Nepal. Quoting Sunita Khadka as saying, Sharma also disclosed that Khadka knew the house at Bishalnagar where Shrisha's nude photo was taken. A cine artiste requesting anonymity told The Rising Nepal that Khadka and an unnamed police inspector are said to have enticed Shrisha to go to bed with an ex-minister. But after Shrisha flatly refused the proposal Khadka and the police inspector forcibly took her to the house at Bishalnagar and forced her to pose nude. But the relation between film producer Khadka and Shrestha is still not clear. It is suspected that Kishore Shrestha, the Jan Aastha editor, somehow got hold of the photographs and used them to blackmail Shrisha. A nude photograph of Karki along with a slanderous report had appeared on the October 9 issue of tabloid. Five days later, one day before the Bijaya Dashami, the 24-year-old actress Karki committed suicide by hanging in her room at Maijubahal. Superintendent of Police Tapendra Hamal said that they were investigating on the alleged involvement of a police inspector in blackmailing of Shrisha with her nude photo. The NFPA has also decided to file a murder charge case against editor Shrestha. "We will file a case against editor Shrestha tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Office of the Superintendent of Police," Krishna Malla, President of NFPA and noted film actor, said. Police are still searching for the absconding Kishore Shrestha, editor of Jan Aastha, a vernacular tabloid, whose publication of the nude photo, is blamed for the actress's suicide. The police are also looking for two other reporters of the tabloid Biswomani Subedi and Yadav Prasad Pandey, who, too, are gone hiding, said DSP Kedar Singh Bhandari.
