Russia's anti-terrorism stance hailed RSS KATHMANDU, Oct. 30: UN member countries need to fully commit
themselves to fighting terrorism in view of the serious challenges posed by the increasing
terrorist activities in the world. This view was expressed by the participants of a
colloquium on 'Nepal and Russia in the United Nations' organised today under the joint
aegis of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Kathmandu, Nepal Institute for
United Nations and UNESCO on the occasion of the United Nations' 57th anniversary. They also expressed the view that the terrorists involved in violence and destruction do not have any ideology or creed worth the name. The participants appreciated the pledge made by Nepal and the Russian Federation against terrorism and for the protection of democracy. On the occasion, chairman of the Rajparishad Standing

Lokendra Bahadur Chand has kept the doors open for a dialogue with the Maoists in order to

Nazarov pointed out that since terrorism has no boundaries and principles, it should be
fought at the international level itself. He stressed development of the education and health sectors for banishing poverty and unemployment from the country. DB. Kusum named focal point official RSS KATHMANDU, Oct. 30: Govinda Prasad Kusum, Joint Secretary at the Planning and Information Management Division of the ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, has been designated as the focal point for follow-up on all activities to be carried out by the Ministry and bodies under it, including progress and problems in the implementation of development projects as well as the services to be provided by the ministry and line agencies to the general public and service-recipients concerned, according to the ministry. Over 100,000 visited SAARC trade fair RSS KATHMANDU, Oct. 30: The Fourth SAARC Trade Fair that concluded here the other day was visited by more than 100,000 people, says the trade promotion centre. All but one member of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) took part in the trade fair organised jointly by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and the Trade Promotion Centre. The Maldives did not take part. Nepalese handicraft goods, readymade garments, food items, leather goods, pashmina, Nepali paper products, woolen carpets, gold and silver ornaments, dairy products, coffee, tea, honey, marble, rubber tyres, industrial goods, water tanks, candles, paints and other daily consumable goods were on display and sale at the fair. Altogether 77 exhibitors from Nepal, 24 from Bangladesh, 8 from Bhutan, 9 from Pakistan, 82 from India and four from Sri Lanka took part in the exhibition. RSS KATHMANDU, Oct. 30: an all-party meeting of 31 political parties called by the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Rastrabadi) which met here yesterday said that those in power for the past 12 years have pushed the country in a situation where the Article 127 had to be exercised and decided that the Parliament should be restored by holding general elections for the resolution of the present abnormal and difficult situation. |
