Regional seminar of local development officers held

NEPALGUNJ, Sept. 9: A three-day regional workshop seminar of the Local Development Officers, the executive officers of municipalities and chiefs of the district infrastructure development offices from the mid-western and far-western development regions concluded here on Sunday.

At the seminar, discussions were held on topics such as the physical infrastructure, urban development and environment protection plans in the districts, the procedures of managing the local bodies, decentralisation concept and implementation aspects of the local bodies management guidelines.

The seminar was organised with the objective of making a review of development programmes implemented in the district in Fiscal Year 2001/2002 and bringing about co-ordination in the development works.

Addressing the concluding session of the seminar organised by the Ministry of Local Development, Chief District Officer of Banke district Dhruba Raj Wagle underlined the need for the participants of the seminar to be dutiful in extending the government's development plans at the grassroots level in rural areas.

At the programme presided over by joint secretary at the Ministry of Local Development Suresh Sharan Regmi, Banke district local development officer Badri Nath Koirala, regional director of the National Planning Commission Kamal Kiran Dhakal, Assistant Inspector General of Police Krishna Basnet, under-secretary at the Regional Administration Office Ram Prasad Ghimire and others also expressed their views.
