Local People Pollute Bagmati

Every morning and evening when I go to walk alone the Bagmati river at the Min Bhawan and Shantinagar are I see a number of local people throwing their household rubbish into the Bagmati river. Some of them, probably the local hoteliers, even carry packages of garbage on bicycle and throw them into the flowing river don form the bridge linking Min Bhawan with Tinkune. No one is there to stop them form doing so. Nor the local Police office which is just near the bank nor the local Ward officials nor even the environmentalist is seen there to discourage the people form polluting the holy river. I do not know whose duty is it to prohibit the people from throwing the garbage into the river, but I often feel sorry whenever I see the city people using the holy river as a dumping site.
