Reception organised in UK to promote Nepal-Britain trade

KATHMANDU: Nepal-Britain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Royal Nepalese Embassy, organised a reception at the embassy in London, recently to mark the International year of Mountain and promote trade between the two countries.

Her Royal Highness Jyotsna Basnyat was present at the reception.

Chairman of Britain-Nepal Parliamentary Group Sir John Stanley, chairman of King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation (KMTNC), UK Chapter, Field Marshal Sir John Chapple and president of Britain- Nepal Society Sir Peter Leggat were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the function, Royal Nepalese Ambassador to the United Kingdom Dr. Singha Bahadur Basnyat stresssed the importance of tourism, trade and investment for Nepal's economic development.

Chairman of Britain-Nepal Chamber of Commerce Col. James Evans, said that the programme would encourage bilateral trade and tourism and increase awareness of investment opportunities in Nepal.
On the occasion, first British woman to scale Mt. Everest Rebecca Stephen expressed her experience on reaching the summit and the relations between the Sherpas and the climbers.
