Post graduate health services being extended to districts RSS LALITPUR, April 16: Minister for Health Dr. Upendra Devkota has said that the Ministry of Health has brought forth a programme for encouraging physicians in order to extend the reach of the health services to places outside Kathmandu valley instead of concentrating them in the capital. Inaugurating a seminar on management of post-graduate health education in Nepal organised by the National Health Sciences Academy (Bir Hospital) here today, he said post graduate specialist health services are being extended to the districts to increase reach throughout the country. He also disclosed that there is a plan to train health workers from across the country in order to bring about qualitative improvements in health education. Senior specialist at the Ministry of Health Dr. Ram Prasad Shrestha expressed the view that with the production of specialist and qualified health workers the programme would help extend the reach of post-graduate specialist health services throughout the country. Director of the National Health Academy Dr. Dinesh Nath Gongol hoped that the programme would assist in the government's objective of making quality health services accessible in each and every village across the country. Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Kanta Adhikari, Dr. Dibyashree Malla and registrar at the academy Madhur Dev Bhandari also expressed their views at the programme. Arrangements have been made for giving priority in the post-graduate studies programme to people with two years' practice in the districts after completion of the M.B.B.S.. Post-graduate education will be provided in general medicine, surgery, anaesthesiology, ophthalmology, paediatrics and gynaecology. Meanwhile, Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Upendra

being a service-oriented agency RONAST cannot forward its activities effectively without
the grants of His Majesty's Government therefore there is the need of maximum investment
for the development of science and technology. ILO forms committee to end child labour RSS DHADING, April 16: International Labour Organisation (ILO) formed a district co-ordinating committee under the chairmanship of chairman of district development committee to eliminate child labour in Dhading district. In the newly formed committee there are 19 members including
chief of district governmental, non-governmental offices, organisations and political
parties directly/indirectly working for reducing child labour. RSS KALAIYA, April 16: Bara Chief District Officer Madhav Prasad Regmi inaugurated the Viswo Shanti 108 Birat Mahayagya at local Siddeshwor School by worshipping and observing puja following Vedic rituals today. Ananta Sri Muktinath Pithadhishwor Akhanda Jyoti Baba Swami Kamalanayacharya has organised 108 Mahayagyas at 108 different places of Nepal simultaneously wishing for world peace. Earlier, a peace and religious rally of local saints, monks, local intellectuals, social workers, businessmen, students, journalists passed round the city carrying 108 traditional lamps and chanting various religious slogans. The Mahayagya will last for 7 days. Mahayagya organising committee co-ordinator Dhruba Prasad Gadtaula presided over the inauguration programme. RSS BHAKTAPUR, April 16: One person was killed and another sustained injuries when a minibus (Ba.1 Kha.1851) heading towards Bhaktapur from Kathmandu knocked them down at local Chundevi on Tuesday. According to the district police office Bhaktapur, 25-year-old Thuli Maya Tamang of Rautahat-4 currently residing in Chundevi was killed in the accident.Her five-year-old son who was injured in the accident is undergoing treatment at B and B Hospital.Bus driver Rajendra Pancha has been taken into custody. Govt fields candidate for WHO regional director RSS KATHMANDU, April 16: His Majesty's Government of Nepal has fielded Dr. Rita Thapa, senior public health policy adviser in the Ministry of Health to the post of World Health Organisation, regional director for South East Asia. Speaking at a regional meeting of the health secretaries of the South East Asia region here today Minister for Health Dr. Upendra Devkota said Nepal has fielded Dr. Thapa for the post. The present WHO regional director for South East Asia Dr. Uton Muchtar Rafei is about to complete his term of office. In view of her outstanding professional background in Nepal and abroad, I firmly believe that Dr. Thapa could well utilise her experience and ability to mobilise the resources of WHO and other international agencies to best serve the needs of all the countries in the region, Health Minister said. Judicial offices shift into new building RSS KATHMANDU, April 16: The offices of Judicial Council and Judicial Service Commission have been shifted into the newly constructed building within the Supreme Court complex from today. The offices were in the Supreme Court building before this. Chief Justice Kedar Nath Upadhyaya today inspected various halls, office rooms and other physical structures of the offices separately. In a precise talk with RSS after the inspection, Chief Judge Upadhyaya said it is of supreme need to develop various necessary physical infrastructures for the all round development of judiciary system itself. Mentioning about various inconveniences appeared in the field of law and justice due to the lack of proper physical facilities needed for the conference, meeting etc of the legal professionals and other judicial activities, Chief Judge Upadhyaya expressed hope that the government will pay its attention in re-constructing and renovating the court buildings in different districts, which had been destroyed during the period of Maoist insurgency. Secretary at the Judiciary Council Kashi Raj Dahal expressed hope that the construction of the building will be fruitful in reducing the crowd and pressure of public in the Supreme Court building.
