Post graduate health services being extended to districts RSS LALITPUR, April 16: Minister for Health Dr. Upendra Devkota has said that the Ministry of Health has brought forth a programme for encouraging physicians in order to extend the reach of the health services to places outside Kathmandu valley instead of concentrating them in the capital. Inaugurating a seminar on management of post-graduate health education in Nepal organised by the National Health Sciences Academy (Bir Hospital) here today, he said post graduate specialist health services are being extended to the districts to increase reach throughout the country. He also disclosed that there is a plan to train health workers from across the country in order to bring about qualitative improvements in health education. Senior specialist at the Ministry of Health Dr. Ram Prasad Shrestha expressed the view that with the production of specialist and qualified health workers the programme would help extend the reach of post-graduate specialist health services throughout the country. Director of the National Health Academy Dr. Dinesh Nath Gongol hoped that the programme would assist in the government's objective of making quality health services accessible in each and every village across the country. Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Kanta Adhikari, Dr. Dibyashree Malla and registrar at the academy Madhur Dev Bhandari also expressed their views at the programme. Arrangements have been made for giving priority in the post-graduate studies programme to people with two years' practice in the districts after completion of the M.B.B.S.. Post-graduate education will be provided in general medicine, surgery, anaesthesiology, ophthalmology, paediatrics and gynaecology. Meanwhile, Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Upendra
Devkota has urged the scientists to give special priority for the conservation and
utilisation of natural resources activities in the country. Vice Chancellor of the RONAST Dr. Dayanand Bajracharya said
being a service-oriented agency RONAST cannot forward its activities effectively without
the grants of His Majesty's Government therefore there is the need of maximum investment
for the development of science and technology. Likewise, the meeting also decided to provide Academy Science and Technology Promotion Award to Dr. Bajranandan Prasad and Third World Academy of Sciences Award to Dr. Rajendra Parajuli and Dr. Tanknath Dhamala. Other Stories |
