Koirala wishes success of peace talks DHANGADHI, Feb. 6: Former prime minister and Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala has said the people should be the converging point for resolving national problems. Speaking at a press meet organised by the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) Kailali District Chapter here today, he said the Nepali Congress' main wish was for the talks to be held between the government and the Maoists to be successful.He said the party would chart out its future programmes on the basis of the outcome of the talks. Earlier, NC president Koirala inaugurated the Nepali Congress Kailali district convention.At the programme presided over by Nepali Congress Kailali district committee president Chandra Singh Bhattarai, co-general secretary Govinda Raj Joshi, party Organisation Department chief Krishna Prasad Sitaula and others also expressed their views. Alsi in Dhangadhi, Nepali Congress president Koirala has said his party will not agree if the solution will be sought out of the constitution.Addressing a Far Western Regional level mass meeting organised here yesterday by the Nepali Congress Kailali, he said conspiracies are being hatched to finish the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal 1990 which is regarded as the best in the world. He said the cease-fire between the government and the Maoists is welcome but the coming situation should be watched carefully.Party general secretary Sushil Koirala said his party has demanded reinstatement of the Parliament with the notion that solution should be sought from the parliament for any problem of the country. NC central member Ram Chandra Poudel said the government and the Maoists should not push the country to darkness and confusion and the talks should be centred in favour of the people.At the function presided over by NC district president Chandrasingh Bhattarai, various other speakers including co-general secretary Govind Raj Joshi, central members Sunil Kumar Bhandari, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Farmullah Mansoor, NSU president Guru Ghimire, Nepal Women's Association president Mina Pandey and NC Organisation Department chief Krishna Sitaula also expressed their views. services BHADRAPUR, Feb. 6: Convenor of the Public Services Monitoring and Inspection Team for Mechi and Koshi zones Jagadish Khadka has urged all to co-operate in giving justice and speedy services to the people from public offices and to control corruption. Talking to journalists here yesterday, he said the local administration will be activated if there are any irregularities in giving assistance to the Bhutanese refugees.Also present on the occasion were other members of the team. Assistance to Myanglung fire victims KATHMANDU, Feb. 6: The Nepal Water Supply Corporation Employees' Association has provided Rs. 25,551 in aid of the fire-affected people of Myanglung.President of the association Rajendra Gautam handed over the amount to Minister for Physical Planning and Works Narayan Singh Pun at the latter's office today.On the occasion, Minister Pun thanked the association for the assistance and said this kind of laudable works should be continued. |
