3,000 M-16 rifles arriving today By A Staff Reporter KATHMANDU, Jan. 4: About 3,000 US-made M-16 A 2 assault rifles are arriving here tomorrow (Sunday), a high-ranking official of His Majesty's Government told The Rising Nepal. The Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) already has 5,000 pieces of the assault rifle, considered the world's best. The RNA has been using the weapon mostly in its peace-keeping operations abroad. According to the source, the consignment is part of another 5,000 rifles the Nepalese government has bought from the USA. The weapons are expected to greatly bolster the morale of the RNA as the new weapons are light, highly efficient and have more ammo power. Another 500 sub-machine guns imported from Belgium are to arrive here anytime soon. Other Stories |
