Being Honest with Profession By Prateek Pradhan I bet you are one of those so-called educated people who are gravely concerned about the pathetic condition of the country. Im sure that while being with your friends you prefer to present a horrific picture of the country. If you dont tell it yourself, you will surely nod on the same being told by one of your friends.
Ironically, the basic culprits hindering the development of this country are none but you, me and people like us. We know that the major problem of the country are ever-degrading honesty, integrity and morality. Sadly, we confine it only to table talks. When it comes for us to practice honesty and morality we simply prefer to forget it.
The so-called educated and well off people like us are those who pressurize political leaders and high level bureaucrats to indulge in nepotism and favortism. We play all the dirty tricks to force them nominate our choice (most probably we ourselves) in the higher government positions. We request them to transfer our brother-in-laws uncles daughter or maternal uncles sons father-in-law to lucrative stations where they could earn money illegitimately. Under such conditions, how can we even imagine all others to be honest and committed to the countrys development?
My previous article "Weird Aspirations of Business People" was a part of my endeavor to be honest and professional myself. I wanted to pass a message to all my known and unknown business friends that the duty of the journalists is to write honestly what they see. Their pen (keyboard nowadays) should not sway to please or infuriate someone without any valid reason.
The weird aspirations of business people are really weird. Once earning money and buying few corrupt bureaucrats and politicians, they feel as if they have conquered the whole world. Then they start preaching how honest and laborious they are, doing their best to hide past performances. And try to prove every now and then, here and there, how intelligent and candid their attitudes are. Most of these people have earned their money through all the illegal means, and their guilty-conscience always haunts them. They are very much insecure and lack confidant seriously.
Well, reiterating my stand of the previous article, I would like to add that not all businesspersons are as weird. Though few business friends argue that only a handful are like that, they are totally wrong. Only a small number of businesspersons escape the framework of the portray I have set for them. However, I must say, yes there are a few good people too in the business sector.
I know there are innumerable ills in the society that has to be written about before attacking the business people. But, if I go on to other field I will be none other than one of those hypocrite journalists who pretend to know everything under the sun. So far, I have made business and economy as my field of expertise, so I would like to stress on this field only. I believe in doing things professionally in the field of ones expertise, and not to infringe upon others territory.
Well, I was talking about few good people. I would not hesitate to give their names and announce them as honest and professional. But I believe my understanding about those whom I support has not reached the level of taking oaths in their names. So, while refraining to mention their names, I would like to talk about them.
And dont take it as buttering these people. Because I believe we should also be in a position to embrace and praise positive things in the society.
First of all, there is a very young business tycoon (who has already set record of being young in many fields), who has been doing all his best to learn and understand the business. If he continues like this, he will surely reach a remarkable height of intellectualism. Im still not in a position to hail him publicly because I think he still has to develop an attitude to accommodate the ideas of his opponents. Once he overcomes this lacuna in his personality, this writer will be in a position to praise him without any hesitation.
Well, there are many other people who are talented, honest, professional and seriously concerned for the welfare of country. I know a person who almost falls in this category. I cant guarantee much about him, but that he can be recognized as a very high level intellectual in his field. He is one of the most successful business persons in tourism field since the last one decade. I will pronounce his name also once he learns to respect the self-pride of other people and deals genuinely with the people whom he considers are in his reign.
I wish comments from valued readers which will help me to defy all odds impeding professionalism and honesty in exposing the ills of business and economy sector of the country.
