Caltex Enters Nepal

Golchha Organization has launched a range of lubricants and engine oils from Caltex, a joint venture company founded in 1936 by two prominent petroleum companies in the world market, Chevon and Texaco.

The new products include Havoline Energy Engine Oil which offers upto 60% fuel savings for vehicle – owners, Revtex Super which provides power to 4 stroke bikes, and Delo which is the number one selling diesel engine oil in the world, according to company sources.

The sources also reveal that Caltex has operation in over 60 nations across Asia – Pacific, Africa and the Middle – East : Caltex also fuels aeroplanes at 41 airports besides providing marine fuels and lubricants at 103 ports in 22 countries, informs the sources.

Saffire In Town

Meanwhile, Hansraj Hulaschand & Co. has officially launched the Bajaj scooter Saffire in Nepal.

Developed in association with Tokyo R&D of Japan, the Saffire claims distinction of being the first 4-stroke automatic scooter made in India. According to company sources, the 92 cc two-wheeler comes with 3 speed auto transmission (also first in India) that saves the hassle of changing gears. The Saffire also has spacious leg room and luggage space, electric start system and auto fuel lock as its other prime characteristics.

Isuzu’s Trooper

Sulux Incorporated Pvt. Ltd. has launched the trendy Trooper from Isuzu Motors Ltd. of Japan.

According to Sulux, the ‘suave looking’ Trooper is Euro I compliant. The company states that the vehicle is designed to take on the potholes and bumps common in the roads in Nepal. Available in 2 and 4 door versions, the Trooper claims of being a ‘safe’ vehicle with 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes that remain cool even under repetitive braking.

While the 2-door variant is available with full options, the 4-door variant is available in standard. Trooper is priced
Rs. 35,00,000 (2 door) and Rs. 34,00,000 (4 door) inclusive of VAT.

Relating the Japanese automaker’s illustrious history, Sulux, Isuzu’s local dealer, reveals that the company has the distinction of being Japan’s first automobile builder. Isuzu is also said to be the first to devise the diesel engine as well as building Japan’s first bus.

 

New Duckhams Brands

Apart from a horde of four-wheelers and two-wheelers, engine parts and body parts, the 2nd Auto Show was also an ideal platform for the launch of engine lubricants. And one player that certainly made the most of the opportunity was Mali Oil Store, the authorized dealer for Duckhams brand of lubricants in Nepal.

The company introduced four new Duckhams lubricants during the event. These were QS Fully Synthetic lubricant available in l and 4L packs (priced at Rs. 900 and Rs. 3400 respectively), QXR Semi Synthetic also in l and 4L packs (priced at Rs. 460 and Rs. 1740 respectively), Q Plus 20W/50, accessible in 1L pack and priced Rs. 218, and 5l pack of 4WD 20W/50 which costs Rs 1425. According to Mali Oil Store, the product prices are inclusive of VAT.

Exide’s New Range

Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd. has introduced new range of batteries from Exide Industries Ltd. of India.

The batteries boast of such features as leak-proof arrangement and non-spillable nature in transit and service. Sipradi sources also claim that the battery remains protected from bumps and vibrations and guarantees no internal short and corrosion under the bonnet.

Exide has technical collaborations with Shin Kobe Electric Machine Company Ltd., a Hitachi Group subsidiary of Japan and the Furukawa Batting Company Ltd., also of Japan. Exide Industries is also said to be India’s largest manufacturer of lead acid storage batteries. The company, according to Sipradi, enjoys ISO 9001 certification.

First MRI in Nepal

Metro Radiology & Imaging (P) Ltd. has introduced Open Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Colour Doppler Ultrasound in Nepal. According to Metro, the equipment, manufactured by Siemens, is not only the first of its kind in Nepal but is the latest in the medical diagnostic field.

A company source points out that the advantage of MRI is that it uses magnetic signals to see through the body, in place of radiation, such as x-rays. Thus said-effects are almost nonexistent, the source adds.

Magnetic Resonance works with magnetic fields and radio frequencies, informs Metro, adding that MRI gives very detailed pictures of the head and spine, organs of chest and abdomen and ligaments and tendons of joints. It can show details which cannot be seen with other imaging techniques, according to Metro.

Metro Tempo Rolls In

The void created by Vikram tempos – banned off Kathmandu streets last year – has not been completely filled despite the entry of a horde of micro buses, battery-run Safas and LPG – operated Tuk Tuk. Therefore, Auto Power Int. (P) Ltd. has now LPG-operated introduced Metro Tempo also in Nepal.

The Metro tempo is claimed to be economical, comfortable and luxurious. Priced at Rs. 5,50,000, according to a company source, Metro has its 850 cc engine made by Daihatsu Motor Co. Ltd. of Japan. Other salient features of the tempo include disc brakes, sound and heat proof nature, indicator lights and music system. The vehicle also boasts of a very low turning radius giving the driver excellent manoeuvrability.
