Although Indian motorcycles have a stronghold
in the Nepali market, bikes from third countries are steadily pushing in for a larger
share of the pie. With Hartford Industrial Co. Ltd. already establishing a presence here
through Mandela Overseas Super Trading Pvt. Ltd. (MOST), the Taiwanese company has decided
to strengthen the presence by introducing two new variants of its brand Velo Sport
and Velo Cross. According to MOST, both Velo Sport and Velo Cross are available in 125 and 150 CC. models The bikes are said to have front disc brakes and fuel efficiency of 45 km to a liter. Both variants are priced at Rs. 1,93,000 but MOST informs that it is presently making the bikes available at Rs. 1,84,000 as introductory offer. |

| Meanwhile, Bajra Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. has very recently
acquired dealership of Zongshien series of motorcycles. Zongshien Group, according to
Bajra, is one of the biggest private motorcycle enterprises in China with annual
production capacity of one million motorcycles. The company also boasts of a series of
over 100 models. Bajra has presently made available six models of the brand in Nepal. According to Tara Prasad Pokharel, the Managing Director of Bajra, the bikes are Euro I compliant and are equipped with fine shock absorbers providing riders car-driving comfort. Priced between Rs. 66,000 and Rs. 1,25,000, the bikes also boast of self/remote start system and disc brakes. |

With the setting in of winter, Universal
Trading Center has introduced Gorenjetiki water-heater in the Nepal market. The company informs that the heaters are easy to install as they come in a number of sizes and shapes. The wall-mounted heaters are available in capacities ranging from 5 litres to 100 litres. The price of Gorenjetiki ranges from Rs. 4200 (5 ltrs) to Rs. 23,500 (100 ltrs). The company claims that the selling point of the heater lies in that it can conveniently be installed in the kitchen, bathroom or guest room where hot water is instantly required. |
| The Basket Traders, a Nepali firm, has launched various
brands of Indian Basmati rice in Nepali market after a yearlong test marketing of the
products in Nepal. The newly launched brands are Doon, India Gate, Bemisal, Noor Jahan and Lotus, produced by KRBL Limited, formerly known as Khusi Ram Behari Lal Ltd. KRBLs brands are mainly exported to overseas, earning the company the distinction of being the largest Basmati rice exporter of India, according to Anup Gupta, joint Managing Director of the company, who was in Kathmandu for the launching of his companys products. The companys present turnover is said to be around US$ 63 million. |
