God has given us a set of palms and soles to work and walk. But the importance of these body parts does not end there. These body parts are helpful in maintaining our health also.
According to acupressure, a drugless treatment therapy, palms and soles possess reflecting points for all organs of the body like liver, heart, eyes, ears, lungs etc. When we do some work with the help of palms and soles, these reflecting points get pressure automatically. Such pressure on reflecting points is essential to recharge the related organs. Being thus recharged these organs maintain their normal function, which could have been diminished or increased due to unavoidable mental and physical circumstances.
Generally, it is believed that balanced diet, proper exercise and mental peace are essential for a good or normal health. A balanced diet contains adequate amounts of nutrients, i.e. proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, vitamins and water. The required amounts of these nutrients may vary according to age, sex and different conditions of the body.
| Physical exercise
gives tone to the muscles and adequate blood circulation to the different tissues of the
living body. In addition, physical exercise also prevents the living body from many
diseases. Mental peace can be achieved through job satisfaction, sense of security, feeling of contentment etc. But this is not so easy in this so called modern age, which is the basic cause of many chronic diseases today .Diseases are caused either by hypo or hyper functions of any organ. To maintain normal function, recharging of all the organs is essential. This can easily be done by artificial pressure on the points of the palms and soles related to the organs (see the picture to identify the relevant reflecting points). When we use our palms and soles in work, these points are automatically pressed recharging the relevant organs. In the present modern age, we are avoiding work with bare hands, or walking and running barefooted. We are using more and more machines and artificial devices. So artificial methods of putting pressure on those points need to be applied. Acupressure therapy is gaining in popularity as an effective method of applying artificial pressure. In future its role in treatment and prevention of diseases is seen to increase immensely. |
