Ads of the Month

Dancing, Playing & Monkeying

From conception of the idea to actual presentation to the prospects, there are many important steps that make or mar the effectiveness of an ad. Sample these:

Shaka Laka Boom

Carefully designed ad this one does appeal to the target group. There are children shown catching coupons and this arrangement clearly tells that bicycles are in offer. The TV ad of this product is also similarly finely produced which is full of activity. The ISO certification has been highlighted, a factor that appeals to the elders as well. Execution-wise as well it is finely made so that it stands out in the crowd, say ad experts in the Nubiz panel. Had also the price of the product been stated, nobody would have found a thing to complain about the ad. Branding has equally been given justice even when this ad is supposed especially to give a message about what surprises are being offered.

Close up

This new Close Up ad in the print media has carried a good theme. Everything about the ad looks natural. Also the models cast are shown in a natural pose. Branding has been given a special focus. The question asked there is provoking for two reasons - brand name is clearly and attractively presented and secondly this is so much a familiar question to the people these days because this same question is cited in a very hilarious tone in the electronic media ad of the same product. A comment came unanimously from the ad experts that the print is not good and they say the presentation looks gloomy in spite of its good colour management.

Carlsberg’s football team

The bottle of Carlsberg stands in a way that it looks like a member of the elite football club MMC and this gives Carlsberg a confident image like that of  MMC. The composition of the ad is very good. The tagline in the presentation is very good as well. A crammed stadium is shown in the background which accounts for the popularity of this club. The background being green the ad looks pleasant while also this being the home colour of the product. Every member of MMC will decorate this poster at their homes which will promote the product even more. This ad is also suitable to be placed in hoarding boards. Branding is prominent as the brand name ‘Carlsberg’ rests on those boastful chests of the players.

Samsung Refrigerator

The scene - refrigerators at a disco dancing in a popular song from the Hindi movie ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’ - makes the ad attractive and at the same time the dancing pose of refrigerators carries a vibrant and lively image. Moreover, this ad clearly speaks about the offer being made - a cassette player. The ad also talks about the finance scheme and this is likely to catch the attention of the prospective customers. The logo ‘Samsung’ shining prominently accounts for strong branding. The information are given in detail. The ad experts all admired the concept of this ad.

Gilbey’s Green label

Whisky bottles are shining in a way they easily attract the attention of the audience. The selling-point ‘International favourite now in Nepal’ is very appropriate when it comes to the product being recently launched here. This ad focuses on the product. The colour of whisky is good and the bottles have been photographed attractively.

Eicher

This is a targeted and product focused ad. The statement at the top of the presentation of the ad clearly carries the theme of the ad. It carries details. But the print can’t command praise at all.

Qualitech’s Monkey

Some ad experts say that the ad has made monkey of itself. They say that many in Nepal will not understand the ad. They also said that the picture seems to have been lifted straight from somewhere. Though the statements below each of the pictures are trying to give a humorous touch, they have rather created more confusion as there are several terms like agency, studio, printer, and pre-press that are beyond the comprehension of the people. Though the picture of the monkey is very clear, this alone couldn’t make the ad appealing. The copy text is also not clear.
