Rich Banking Experience

Possessing over 15 years’ experience as senior bank executive in various fields of banking, Surender Bhandari, 42, currently holds the position of CEO in Kumari Bank Ltd.

Bhandari began his career with Nepal Arab Bank Ltd in 1985, accomplishing numerous assignments in areas of corporate and rural banking, head office and branch operation, human resources, bank administration and so on. Bhandari took up the present responsibility of Kumari Bank in November 2000 where, as CEO, his job involved supervising and setting up the entire infrastructure for banking operation. His key achievements in the bank, among others, include establishing independent branches of the bank at Birgunj, Biratnagar, Sugauli, Bhairahawa, Pokhara and Thamel, playing a vital role in building sound credit portfolio; being responsible for such projects as Debit Card and ATM and point of Sales Terminal.

A postgraduate in Business Administration from Institute of Management Dehradun, India and master in Commerce from DAV College, Garwal University, India, Bhandari has also been involved in numerous training programmes.

First Lady Airline Country Manager

The Country Manager of Biman Bangladesh, Mariam Shameem boasts of being the first lady country manager in the aviation sector in the entire Indian subcontinent.

Previously looking after tour development advertisement for the airline in Dhaka, Shameem holds significant experience in tour development advertisement, sales, marketing and reservations.

Apart from a keen interest in poetry, Shameem’s pastimes include reading, traveling and listening to music. She has also released a number of audio cassettes.

Venture Successfully

A St. Mary’s High School passout and educated in Computer Information System in the USA, Shobha Rayamajhi is the promoter and co-owner of an exclusive eatout, 1905 Boardwalk.

Rayamajhi’s entry into the sector was an accidental one. She was pulled into the business as a promoter when she was trying to help an American friend to reinstate her restaurant, North Beach Cafe. Her initial experience at running a restaurant was not a successful one, since she was forced to shut the place down, thanks to tenant – landlord problems. Nine months down the line, she gave the venture another go, giving birth to 1905 Boardwalk.

Rayamajhi has also worked for both local and international organizations. She is currently involved with two NGO’s and her participation in other development activities and seminars keep her busy.
