Nestled into the rolling hills and surrounded by magnificent Himalayan mountain peaks, the Hyatt Regency occupies 37 acres of landscaped grounds overlooking the city of Kathmandu. To highlight the countrys rich local culture, the low-rise design of the hotel reflects the distinct styles of Newari architectural characteristics. This fusion of styles is seen most clearly in the Lobby which features an indoor courtyard with exquisitely carved wooden ceilings and "chaityas" art replicas of miniature temples dating back to the 16th century Malla kingdom, as well as an outdoor courtyard set in the hotels landscaped gardens.
One can easily reach to the hotel which is a one-kilometre driveway flanked on each side by a three-tiered temple. Guest are greeted by life-size mythological stone carvings which set the mood of peace and tranquility that many travelers seek when they visit Nepal.

The elegant low rise design of the hotel embodies traditional Newari architecture, reflected strongly in the various courtyards, hand covered wooden pillars and ceilings. According to Zainap Tanmizi, Director of Business, Development, Hyatt Regency Kathmandu, "The potential for incentive growth and travel is huge. What we intend to do is to harness available resources and channel efforts in promoting the wonders of Nepal to the rest of the world. While many in Asia are aware of Nepals existence, we must also encourage the long haul traffic to come to this last monarchial Hindu kingdom."
The lobby in the hotel, according to hotel employees, is a visual delight with a special area designated as the Temple Court wherein exist the legends of the living gods and goddesses. Nine living "Chaityas in the Temple Court are replicas of shrines built between the 11th and 18th centuries from the various regions of Nepal.
