Sharp products in Nepal

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, amidst a function, inaugurated the formal launching of Sharp products in the Himalayan country of Nepal on Thursday.

Though Sharp products are already in the Nepalese market for the last many years, the formal launching of its products was observed at the initiation of the Touchstone Sales and Service Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor for Nepal. Sharp is a renowned Japanese electronic giant and one of the world leaders in electronic home appliances.

Crown Prince Dipendra also observed a wide range of Sharp products exhibited to mark the occasion.

Speaking at the inaugural function, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Ram Krishna Tamrakar welcomed the decision taken by the Japanese electronic giant to step into Nepal. Minister Tamrakar also urged to uplift economy of Nepal by establishing manufacturing units of the company in the country.

Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), also said that the official launching of Sharp products in Nepal is the evidence of growing attraction of foreign entrepreneurs to Nepal.

The coming of Japanese electronic good manufacturer to Nepal is the result of the liberal economic policy adopted by the country. However, FNCCI President also pointed out the need of security to the industries to assure the Nepalese businessmen as well as the foreign investors. Only in the last week, groups of unidentified, armed people bombed number of joint venture industries in the country.

Similarly, addressing the gathering Bijen Jonchhe, Managing Director of Touchstone Sales and Service Pvt. Ltd., said that presence of Crown Prince Dipendra has encouraged the business community in the their new ventures. He also informed the company’s plan of manufacturing electronic goods in Nepal in collaboration with Sharp in the second phase. As of now, the company is targeting at gaining confidence of the consumers by establishing of a modern service center and marketing networks.
