TITTLE TATTLE |
Do
the fairer sex have an invisible thermal lining on them wonders Tattler
after observing their attire in the social dos these wintry evenings.
Or is it a matter of gritting and shaking in the cold with a smile in a bid
to exhibit jewellery and clothes? *** An
old English gentleman asked Tattler what that dessert was, referring to the
two Lalmohans or Gulabjamuns on Tattler’s plate. Without stopping to think
Tattler replied matter of factly, “sweet balls”. A shocked “what!!”
response from the old man, jolted tattler back to the world where words have
different meanings. *** Diplomats are some of the biggest liars, but when they try to hoodwink a journalist, like it seems one Western diplomat did last week, the onslaught backfires. Tattler found out that what he told the scribe was a completely one-sided version of what happened when an Englishman was arrested while trying to recruit some Nepalese for a hotel in the Mideast. The moral: Don’t lie to scribes who write. |
