TITTLE TATTLE

Tittle Tattle

A sign of a cowardly husband among the phony circles- pester your wife’s friend when the house cat is out. When caught, slander the friend to save face. Hide behind lies to make sure the cat does not know the real culprit. Little knowing an angry lioness just might pounce on the rat someday and show him where the creep belongs!

If honesty is the best policy, why do the honest ones get kicked in the you know where? Specially so, while trying to do a good turn to friends and others!

***

Well!! Just because someone changed sides does not mean the paper has lost quality! This was alleged by a journalist who worked here before. The paper remains the same- in case you did not know.

By the way, two Independent staffers got hitched to their life-partners this week. Bandana Shrestha, without whose sweet presence life would be difficult in the office tied the knot to Basanta Shrestha and accountant Rajesh Sharma exchanged vows with Kabita Khatiwada. Congratulation to you both!

Notice on Army’s invitation to observe Multi-Platoon Training Event said journalists would be taken by “helicopter” to the Training Camp at Paanchkhaal. Was this because some scribes had complained to the top brass regarding the partiality shown during the inauguration event? Can’t call the army guys not media savvy, can we?

***

News in official media said the “commission” from the aircraft lease deal of RNAC should be put in government coffers. Does this mean the government recognises commissiontantra as legal?

To a query of a foreign correspondent, PM office spokesman said that cabinet reshuffle couldn’t take place because Bhattarai’s knees gave him problems. Quipped a senior local journalist to that, “Does it mean the ministers are ranked lower than the premier’s legs?” No comment.
