Miss Universe to promote AIDS awareness in Africa

United Nations — The strikingly beautiful and articulate Miss Universe, Mpule Kwelagobe of Botswana, said February 8 that she will be returning home soon to help launch an initiative called “The Month of Youth Against AIDS,” to promote the rights of women and girls to proper health care, and to serve as a goodwill ambassador for the U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA).

At a press conference at U.N. headquarters, Kwelagobe, accompanied by UNFPA officials, recalled her past participation in a high school peer education group that sought to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and her intention now to use her celebrity to promote HIV/AIDS awareness nationally and be a role model for young women and girls in Botswana and elsewhere in Africa.


APUA registered in Nepal

APUA-Nepal an independent organisation affiliated with The Alliance for the Prudent Use of Antibiotics (APUA) based in Boston, USA, has been registered with Kathmandu District Office on 28th June 1999. It is dedicated exclusively to curbing antibiotics resistance and improving antibiotics use. APUA works for promoting global pulbic health through research and education of consumers and health care providers. Founded in 1981, the APUA network facilitates an international exchange of information and supports grass roots activities to curb antibiotics resistance throughout the world.
