Soaltee Challenge Golf
Trophy concludes By A Staff Reporter
The annual Soaltee Challenge golf trophy concluded at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Feb 12 after two days of some exciting golf. The concluding day started with cloudy weather with apprehensive albeit determined golfers starting the days proceeding with shotgun style as the organisers had lost two valuable hours in the morning due to the weather. Seventy-two Royal Nepal Golf Club members and invited guest participated in the two-day tournament with some extremely close competitive scores. The tournament winner was Mr. T.B Limbu with a score of 66 with three under par and the runner up was Mr. Jamling Ghale with the score of 67. In the seniors category, the winner was Dr D B Shahi with an impressive score of 75 and the ladies winner was Mrs. Eu Hazur Thapa with score of 69. Master Sameer Amatya with the score of 73 won the junior category. The longest drive competition was won by T Fisher and the two closest to the pin were won by Shrihar Rana and Tashi Ghale at hole number 2 and hole number 8. The winning prizes of all category was distributed by Honorable Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Sharad Singh Bhandari and speaking on the occasion Bhandari lauded the support of private sector to the development of golf and expressed governments desire to promote the game of golf in the country. The chairman of Soaltee Hotel Limited Prabhakar SJB Rana also reaffirmed his support to Royal Nepal Golf Club during the prize distribution ceremony. The President of Royal Nepal Golf Club and the Captain of Royal Nepal Golf Club also spoke on the event. |
