One of the largest business houses in Nepal, Chaudhary Group, is going to take a giant stride in expanding its business by joining hands with one of the largest industrial houses in India, Crompton Greaves Limited belonging to Thapar Group.

Chaudhary Group is going to expand itís business in the field of Telecommunications and Power in collaboration with the Crompton Greaves-- headquartered in Mumbai, with about 29 manufacturing units.

One of the leading electrical engineering companies of India, Crompton Greaves offers a wide range of transformers, switchgear and control equipment, motors and generators and railway signal equipments. It's consumer products such as fans, light sources and luminaries and domestic appliances are said to be quite popular in the Nepalese Market.

Crompton Greaves is among those few manufacturers of telecom switches based on C-DOT technology and Local Loop equipment that are indigenously developed for DECT technology.

"The association of Chaudhary Group with Crompton Greaves will be a landmark in expanding business portfolio of Chaudhary Group that is hoped to give a leading edge in providing hi-tech products and support services in both telecom and power sectors," said Basanta Kumar Chaudhary, managing director of the Chaudhary Group.

Crompton Greaves will begin it's participation in the development of infrastructure in Nepal by presenting one TDMA-PMP (Time Division Multiple Access Point to Multi-Point) system to Nepal Telecommunications Corporation, as a gesture of goodwill to celebrate King Birendra's 55th birthday.

Top officials of Crompton Greaves led by chairman and managing director, K. K. Nohria were in the Nepalese capital last week to sign the memorandum of understanding with the Chaudhary Group. "The TDMA-PMP system is one of the most cost effective systems that meets the requirement of the rural areas for the telecommunication services," said Nohria.
