Karl Inderfurth, US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, and Julia V. Taft, Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration of the US State Department, for Bhutan, after the completion of their visit to Nepal.

RETURNED: Inder Kumar Gujral, former prime minister of India, who came here to participate in the meeting of Citizen's Commission of South Asia, after falling sick.

AWARDED: Bhim Bahadur Adhikary, literary critic, with the Bharati Kharel Memorial Award.

CONSTITUTED: A nine-member working committee of the Nepal Press Institute (NPI), under the Chairmanship of Gokul Pokharel. Dhrubahari Adhikary is the vice chairman, Bharat Dutta Koirala is the general secretary and Rajendra Dahal is the treasurer of the NPI. Other members include Durganath Sharma, Hemraj Gyawali, Shobha Gautam, Radheshyam Bista and Parshuram Kharel.
