JICA PRESIDENT'S VISIT

Gesture of Goodwill

President of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is coming to Nepal on an official visit

The first month of the new millennium seems to be a month of official visits from high level foreign dignitaries. After the visits from Norwegian foreign minister, three American senators and US commander-in-chief of United State's Pacific Command, it is now the turn of the chief of the Japan's international cooperation body JICA to visit Nepal.

JICA President Kimio Fujita is paying official visit to Nepal from January 23 to 26. JICA is a leading donor agency supporting Nepal's development activities.

Fujita, 68, is a law graduate from Tokyo University. During his stay in Nepal, he will meet prime minister and other senior government officials.

JICA president is also scheduled to visit the ongoing Banepa-Bardibas road construction project and meet with JICA experts along with senior officials.

Fujita also served as the ambassador to the Netherlands and Indonesia. He was appointed the President of JICA in August, 1994.

Fujita had joined Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1956 and spent entire career serving in different sections of the foreign ministry.
