Remembering Gyawali Colleagues remember late Gyawali and his contribution to judiciary By A CORRESPONDENT Sambhu Prasad Gyawali was one of the renowned constitutional lawyers of the country who served under three different political systems. Late Gyawali had joined judiciary before the dawn of democracy in 2007 B.S. (1950). With the aim to recall late Gyawali's contribution to Nepalese judiciary, Gyangun Law Academy has published a book including articles written by his contemporaries and professional colleagues. Kamal Mani Dixit recalls late Gyawali's contribution at setting up Madan Purashkar Guthi. Former Justice of Supreme Court Prachanda Raj Anil highlights Gyawali's bold and frank character. Former justice Anil had worked with late Gyawali as an assistant at Attorney General's Office. In his articles advocate Tilak Parajuli recalled Gyawali's professional integrity and his respect to the profession. As a courageous and honest advocate, Gyawali always stood for the rule of law and efficiency in judiciary. Gyawali was one of the few law graduates who joined judicial and administration when there were only a few people who knew about the process of modern judiciary practices. "One of his great contributions was the drafting of Civil Code 1963 and its implementation," recalled senior advocate Ratan Lal Kanaudia in his article. The book also contains articles from Madan Mani Dixit, Bharat Mani Sharma, Dr. Hari Bansha Tripathi, Bamdev Gyawali, Nawadutta Upadhyaya, Pitambar Silwal, Bhupnidhi Panta, Shashi Kumar Upadhyaya and Chandeswor Shrestha. |
