AWARDED:
Russia's Dr. Aleksey Vladimirovich Yablokov, with the Duke of Edinburgh
Conservation Medal, the highest award given by the World-Wide Fund for Nature each year
for outstanding contribution to international conservation efforts, during the WWF
convention in Kathmandu. The award was given to Dr. Yablokov for " his major role in
achieving protection of marine mammals in the Arctic, Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and for
leading the successful campaign to end dolphin hunting in the Black Sea.
RETURNED: Taranath Rana Bhat,
Speaker of the House of Representatives, after participating in an Asia-Pacific regional
seminar of people's representatives held in Hyderabad, India.
Dr. Mohammad Mohsin,
Chairman of the National Assembly, after participating in a seminar titled
"Challenges of Democracy in 21st Century" held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
