APPOINTED: Pradip SJB Rana, as the acting Inspector General of Police, by the government. Madan Raj Sharma, the acting Chairman of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), as the Chairman of NOC for the maximum period of two years, by the government. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development Ram Chandra Poudel, also as the Home Minister, by His Majesty the King as per the recommendation of the Prime Minister. RESIGNED: Govinda Raj Joshi, Home Minister, from his post. PRESENTED: The report, prepared by the committee under the chairmanship of former chief secretary Madhusudan Prasad Gorkhali, formed to probe the Dunai incident, to the Home Minister. LEFT: Amod Prasad Upadhyaya, Minister for Education, for Norway, at the invitation of Norwegian Minister for Education Grisk Trond. AWARDED: Dinesh Adhikari, an eminent poet and lyricist; and Nepal Education Council (NEC), with the Madan and Jagadamba Shri Puraskar by Madan Puraskar Guthi. NEC was given the award for its service to Nepali language and Adhikari for his unique work in the field of poetry. Yogi Naraharinath, a noted scholar and historian, with Dr. Balram Joshi Gyan Bigyan Puraskar, in recognition of his role in the promotion of religion, culture, history and archaeology as well as in the foundation of World Hindu Foundation, by Dr. Balram Joshi Gyan Bigyan Puraskar Award Committee. Dr. Chhabilal Gajurel, with Jhapat Puraskar, for his contribution to the promotion of science in the Nepali language in a simple and easy manner, by the Jhapat Prize Committee. |
