NAMING CEREMONY: The
auspicious naming ceremony (Nwaran) was held on August 9 to mark the 11th day of the birth
of His Royal Highness the Nava Yuvaraj. HRH is to be known as Nava Yuvaraj
Hridayendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. APPOINTED: General Pyar Jung Thapa,
as the acting Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Royal Nepalese Army (RNA), by His Majesty
the King. COAS General Prajwalla SJB Rana went on leave from August 9,
one month prior to the date of his retirement in accordance with RNA convention. LEFT: Madhav Kumar Nepal, general secretary of the Unified Marxist Leninist (UML), for New Delhi, India, along with UML leaders Bharat Mohan Adhikary and Jhal Nath Khanal, at the invitation of the government of India. REMOVED: Gita Rana, from
the post of president of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), by the National Sports
Council (NSC). APPOINTED: Karma Chhiring Sherpa,
as the acting president of ANFA, by the NSC. ELECTED: Dr. Tirtha Bahadur
Shrestha, as the chairman of the working committee of the IUCN-Nepal National
Committee. Likewise, Arun Rijal, Astaman Maharjan, Kamala Dhungel, Dr. Madhav
Gautam, Yogendra Chitrakar and Ukesh Raj Bhuju as members of the
committee. RESIGNED: Dr. Shankar Kumar Shrestha, from the post of secretary of the National Human Rights Commission. |
