AWARDED: Appa Sherpa, the record-setting mountaineer who scaled the Mount Everest for 12th time this season, with the Sagarmatha Award, by the government. Baikuntha Manadhar, former South Asian marathon champion, with the Sports and Well-being Trophy 2002, by the International Olympic Committee. 

LEFT: Girija Prasad Koirala, former prime minister and president of the ruling Nepali Congress party, for the People's Republic of China. 

FELICITATED: Pemba Doma Sherpa, the first Nepalese woman to have scaled the Mount Everest from northern side, by the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal. Ambar Gurung, senior musician, by the Tamu Cultural Academy.
