LEFT: Arjun Jung Bahadur Singh, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, for Durban, South Africa, to take part in the 14th ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non Aligned Movement.

DECLARED: Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, the first Nepalese woman to scale Mt. Everest, as a national hero.

DIED: Dr. Bihari Lal Shrestha, orthopedist and founder president of Matribhumi Swayamsewak Sangh, at the age of 61.
