FELICITATED: His Majesty King Gyanendra, by the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry on April 9. 

FORMED: A one-man judicial commission , headed by Lokendra Mallick, a judge at the Hetauda Appellate Court, to probe the incident where a student was killed in police firing in Butwal. 

EXTENDED: The tenure of Maheshwor Lal Mishra, additional judge at the Jumla Appellate Court, by seven months; and Parshuram Jha, additional judge at the Dipayal Appellate Court and Cholendra SJB Rana, additional judge at the Surkhet Appellate Court, by two years; by His Majesty the King, in accordance with the Constitution of the Kingdom of Nepal 1990 and as per the recommendation by the Judicial Council. 

ANNOUNCED: Gahate Community Forest Users' Group as the winner of this year's Ganeshman Singh Forest Conservation Award, by the Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation. 

DIED: Bhim Darshan Rokka, senior poet, at the age of 74. 

CHOSEN: Madan Regmi, as president of the China Study Center, by the center's fourth general meeting.
