FORMED: The government talks team to hold the peace dialogue with the Maoists with Deputy Prime Minister Badri Prasad Mandal as its coordinator. Ramesh Nath Pandey, Minister for Information and Communication, Narayan Singh Pun, Minister for Works and Physical Planning, Upendra Devkota, Minister for Health, Kamal Chaulagain, Minister for Labor and Transport Management and Anuradha Koirala, Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, are the members of the team. 

AWARDED: Yadunath Khanal, senior litterateur and diplomat, with this yearís Basundhara Shree Puraskar, and Gyanuwakar Poudel, with this yearís Man Shree Puraskar.

Dr. Dirgha Singh Bam, eminent tuberculosis specialist and director of National TB Center and SAARC TB Center, by citizens of Tanahu district. 

ARRIVED: General N.C. Vij, chief of the army staff, Indian Army, for a four day visit to Nepal, at the invitation of General Pyara Jung Thapa, chief of the army staff, Royal Nepalese Army (RNA).
