Madhav Maharjan, a renowned Nepalese book publisher, has hardly got exposure to the international book fairs. Under his own initiatives and with the support from organizers, Maharjan, chief executive of the Mandala Book Point and general secretary of National Book Sellers and Publishers Association, recently took part in Frankfurt Book Fair 2003.

“It was my first experience to participate in such an international level book fair. I think we need more of such exposures,” said Maharjan, who is the first Nepali book publisher to attend the fair.

The Frankfurt fair was participated by 6,400 exhibitors from all over the world.  Maharjan, who has also participated in a couple of book exhibitions held in India, displayed more than five dozen books related to Nepal at the fair. “During my stay in Frankfurt, I met many renowned publishers from the world and discussed matters related to co-publishing and other issues,” said Maharjan. “We can increase markets of our book in participating such fair.”
