DIED: Dal Singh Thapa, 72,
former member of parliament and Nepali Congress leader. APPOINTED: Kiran Kharel
(lyricist), Susheela Rayamajhi (actress) and Madan Das Shrestha
(film artiste) as members of the Central Film Censor Board for a maximum of two
years. Madhav Prasad Ghimire, financial
comptroller-general, as secretary at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of
Authority. RESIGNED: Devika Timalsina,
program director of INSEC, along with other eight senior officials, from the
organization. ANNOUNCED: The national
team for the SAARC Cup football tournament scheduled to begin in Bangladesh on January 10.
Members include Upendra Man Singh (captain), Bal Gopal Maharjan (vice-captain),
Chhannu Ram Chaudhary, Dev Narayan Chaudhary, Narottam Gautam, Rakesh Shrestha, Sunil

Basanta Thapa, Rajan Rayamajhi and Ramesh Budathoki. TAKEN CHARGE: Inspector General of Police, Shyam Bhakta Thapa, as chief of Nepal Police since last Sunday. Outgoing IGP Pradip Shumsher JB Rana presented the insignia to Thapa at a ceremony held at the Police headquarters at Naxal. |
