AWARDED: Bhuwan Prakash Bista, a section officer at Local Development Ministry, Govinda Bahadur Shrestha, an engineer at CIAA, Kamal Prasad Karmacharya, section officer at Education Ministry, Kusum Shrestha, non gazetted official at the office of Attorney General and Mahendra Kumar Shakya, non gazetted official at the Education Ministry, with the Civil Service Excellence Awards, by the government.  

FELICITATED: Kul Shekhar Sharma, former chief secretary and prominent bureaucrat, Taradevi Bhattarai, former secretary, Krishna Bahadur Manandhar, former Nepalese envoy to Egypt and Sundar Prasad Shaha Dukhi, litterateur, by Literary Society. 

DIED: Mahesh Chandra Regmi, an economic historian, prominent scholar and recipient of Magsasay Award, at the age of 74.  

RETURNED: Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, after completing her three-day private visit to Nepal. 

LEFT: Sarbendra Nath Shukla, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, for India and Hong Kong, to promote tourism in different cities. 

APPOINTED: Tamla Ukyab, as the member secretary of National Foundation for Development of Indigenous Nationalities, by the government.
