Different Issue

The cover story on the civil aviation is a matter of general interest "CIVIL AVIATION POLICY: For Political Purpose (SPOTLIGHT August 6)". The best thing I like about Spotlight is that it always brings out issues that are of general interest but not covered by mainstream media. The Nepalese media is overstuffed with political gossip. The general people are not much interested in which political leader or minister said what. Although, the things they talk about are of direct impact to people, they have long lost faith in their words. People are more interested in matters that affect their daily life. I hope Spotlight will continue to cover such issues of public interest in the coming days as well.

Matter of Interest

The matter of civil aviation is of interest to readers like us who stay abroad and have to travel frequently "CIVIL AVIATION POLICY: For Political Purpose (SPOTLIGHT August 6)". The issue was not much covered by most of the media. We need to be aware of the civil aviation policies and be updated about the changes in the sector. The cover story provided a thorough analysis of the situation and has raised some pertinent questions. It remains to be seen whether the government acts on the issues that you have raised.

Introduce Budget Flights

Apropos your cover story about civil aviation I would like to add my point of view "CIVIL AVIATION POLICY: For Political Purpose (SPOTLIGHT August 6)". Looking at the Nepalese topography it is not feasible for land transport to reach every nook and corner. Air transport is easier as it does not require building of road infrastructure. However, it is more expensive and Nepalese people whose per capita income is very low cannot afford such huge expenditure for regular commute. So, there should be some efforts to minimize its cost, without compromising the safety measures, of course. There are systems of budget flights in North America, Europe and even in eastern Asia it is getting popularity. Nepalese aviation entrepreneurs could also think about that and try and reduce the costs where possible to give the people service at a low price.

Dull Story

The concern about civil aviation is limited to a few number of people only "CIVIL AVIATION POLICY: For Political Purpose (SPOTLIGHT August 6)". General people are not much interested in that, at least not the international flights. By and large Spotlight is a good magazine, and it should try to give such stories, which can trigger the interest of general readers. I hope it will accept my suggestion and give matter of public interest in coming up issues.

Add Coverage On Entertainment

Thank you for carrying the profile of pop singer Nabin Kumar Bhattarai "NABIN KUMAR BHATTARAI: King Of Pop (SPOTLIGHT August 6)". I think Spotlight should give more space for entertainment issues like music and sports in the coming days if it wants to attract young readers like myself. The profile was well presented and informative. However, their fans already know the general things of such famous celebrities. What they are inquisitive about is their personal life and other things that have not come out before public yet. So, you should give such information when you write about celebrities .The information about his school days was somewhat new.

Good Move

The government has taken a good step by launching the nationwide anti-measles drive "ANTI-MEASLES DRIVE: Shooting Down The Disease (SPOTLIGHT August 6)". As you have stated, the drive could save the lives of thousands of children. Not only that if the people are made aware of the necessity of the immunization and its importance, it will be much easier to launch such programs in the future. The government should give continuity to such life saving programs instead of spending money on buying bullets and weapons.

Gloomy Story

It is a sad thing that because of the conflict between the state and the Maoists, general people are suffering "HUMAN COST OF CONFLICT: Bullet In The Head (SPOTLIGHT August 6)". There are many people who are sharing similar fate as that of Kiran Yogi. You have done a good job by bringing out such issue in your magazine and making others informed about what the cost of conflict has been to the general people.
