Dixits photographs display unique blend of trekking areas of Nepal By A CORRESPONDENT
From remote parts of Helambu of Sindhupalchowk district to Tengboche of Everest region, journalist Kanak Mani Dixit has been able to explain the beauty and tranquility of the region through his camera. Exhibited at Siddartha Art Gallery, Dixits photographs speak volumes about trekking areas of Nepal. It also portrays early days of trekking. The photographs were taken at different periods including the early days of 1971. Whether it is Upper Mustang or Lomanthang, Dolpa or Dailkeha, Dixits black and white snapshots capture the past history. Inaugurated by photo journalist Gopal Chitrakar, the money collected through the sales of the photos will be handed over to Gangalal Heart Center. Journalist Dixit has traveled extensively in different parts of the country in the last three decades and has captured scenes of different periods. His photographs portray the remote parts of the country. In his three dozens photographs displayed at the Gallery, he reminds the viewers of the early 1970s and 1980s. His photographs help one to witness the transformation of Nepalese society through different development models. Dixit sees the number of schools opening at different parts of the areas as major factors of transformation. From life style to mountains and other adventure areas, journalist Dixit has captured the history of Nepal and the transformation taking place here. |
