SUBMITTED: Tsutomu Hiraoka, the newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, his credentials to King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev. Hiraoka had joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1973.  In addition to his position at home as Director of the Division for the Protection of Japanese Nationals Overseas, he also served as the Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Service Training Institute. Before being appointed Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, he served as Consul-General of Japan in Edinburgh, the United Kingdom. 

APPOINTED: Til Bikram Nemwang, a.k.a. 'Bairagi Kainla', as the chairman of Sajha Prakashan, a government owned publishing company, by the government. 

DIED: Shiva Shanker Manandhar, the first-ever hero of a Nepali film, noted singer and musician, at the age of 72.

Purna Bahadur "M.A.", the first post-graduate of Nepal and a former member of the Raj Sabha, at the age of 89.

ACCREDITED: Karna Dhoj Adhikari, the incumbent royal Nepalese Ambassador to the Republic of India also as the ambassador to the Republic of Mauritius and Dr. Madan Kumar Bhattarai, the ambassador to Federal Republic of Germany, also as the ambassador to Holy See and Austria.

AWARDED: Hem Raj Gyawali, chairman of Kantipur Publications, with the 'Jhapat Award' of this year, by the Jhapat Award Management Committee.
