While the remittances from abroad are increasing, there are limited possibilities of investing them in productive sector thanks to insecurity. According to NRB, the total liquidity of the financial sector at present is around Rs 37 billion – which is 5 percent more than in the same period last year. The commercial banks have already dropped interest rates for deposits. Economists say that the current interest rates are, in fact, negative.
