the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, by the King, in accordance with the Constitution
of the Kingdom of Nepal 1990 and as per the recommendation of the Constitutional
Council. Prof Shiva Hari Marahattha,
as the vice chancellor of Mahendra Sanskrit University (MSU), by King Gyanendra, in his
capacity as chancellor of the MSU, and upon the recommendation of a committee headed by
Minister of Education and Sports and co-chancellor of the University, Bimalendra
Nidhi. DIED: Beni Bahadur Karki, former chairman of the National Assembly and a senior leader of Nepali Congress, at the age of 75. Dhanendra Bahadur Singh,
former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, at the age of 78. AWARDED: Dhruba Sapkota,
story-writer, with the 'Sajha Puraskar' for this year, for his story collection
'Andhakar', by Sajha Prakashan. Gita Keshari, novelist,
with the 'Ganki Basundhara Award for this year' NOMINATED: Dr. Som Nath Aryal as the president, and Dr. Bhagwan Koirala, Dr. Narendra Bahadur Rana, Prof. Dr. Jagdish Agrawal, Dr. Harihar Wasti, Dr. Rabindra Man Shrestha, Dr. Sarita Pradhan Joshi, and Madhav Sharma, as members of Nepal Medical Council.
