The Mystery of Light Balls

The Guru of Japanese healers introduces a strange phenomenon of light balls in photographs

By A CORRESPONDENT

As viewers gathered to observe the photographs exhibited at Siddhartha Art Gallery on 23 rd June, signs of bewilderment were clear on their faces. Outnumbered by the delegation members of Japanese healers, the strange phenomenon seen on the photographs not only amused the viewers, but urged them to find the answer to the mystery of the photographs.

Light balls seen here and there in different shapes were abundant in all of the 57 photographs exhibited. Not only the guru of the healers Hirokazu Kobayashi and his disciples but also the photo printers - themselves bewildered by the mystery - claimed that the photographs were not manipulated.

The pictures of various places like Lumbini, Machhindranath and other temples and religious monuments are showcased in the exhibition titled “The Mysterious and Inexplicable Phenomenon of Light Balls”. The pictures were taken by Badri Kayastha and Varja Zweiacker over the last two years.

The light balls, which are not visible to the naked eyes, were seen on the photographs taken by certain people after printing the pictures.

Guru explains that there is a kind of energy surrounding every living being. It is clearer and more abundant in the place of worships and in temples. He says it is the spiritual power present in every living being that can be seen as light balls.

The number, position and shape of the light balls are varied depending upon the image seen on the photographs. The pictures taken during the festival of Machhindranath chariot pulling show myriad light balls scattered here and there, while the pictures taken in Lumbini show single light ball in round shape. Professional photographers claim that it was not possible to manipulate the photographs to such an extent to get the desired shape, number and position of the ‘patches.’

“Some manipulation is possible while taking the photographs or printing it,” said a renowned photo journalist (does not want to be named). “But, it is not possible to place them where you want and it does not become exactly round as you can see here.”

Kobayashi, who is said to have been endowed with the spiritual power of healing with the help of energy acquired from light, has come all the way from Japan with more than a hundred disciples to conduct healing sessions in Nepal.

He has been using his spiritual power to heal various kinds of illnesses since last many years. He has been visiting Nepal since the last nine years in the course of conducting healing sessions.
