New Experience

It was probably for the first time in the last fifteen years when a press conference called by senior minister was attended by such a large number of journalists. Thanks to the generous invitation, many old journalists and journalists who were out of picture for a long time also enjoyed the press meet addressed by two vice chairmen Dr. Tulsi Giri and Kirti Nidhi Bista. Interestingly, second vice chairman Bista remained mum for whole two-hour-long press meet while Dr. Giri faced the press in 30 years as a senior minister. It was actually new experience for most of the young journalists to witness Dr. Giri's style. Although Dr. Giri was out of politics for such a long time, his name often appeared in newspapers as diehard hardliner.

Diverse Pack

Dhakal : Opposite view

Attended by many government officials and ministers, the press conference began with the address by Minister for Information and Communication Tanka Dhakal who highlighted the points of disunity between the monarchy and the political parties. Interestingly, vice chairman Dr. Giri began his statement by offering the points of unity. Another vice chairman Kirti Nidhi Bista - who always maintained good relations with politicians of all hues - enjoyed the press meet listening to Dr.Giri's style of reply and questions from the journalists.

Comrades In Education

Whether it is just coincidence or not, Ministry of Education always falls under communist leaders or former communist leaders whenever a coalition government is formed. Nobody knows what was the state of ministry before 1990. After 1990, the ministry has the record of having the ministers affiliated to Nepal Communist Party. Dr. Keshar Jung Rayamajhi was the first education minister after 1990.Rayamajhi was the general secretary of Nepal Communist Party. Then Devi Prasad Ojha held the portfolio. He has been followed by Radha Krishna Mainali who is also a former founding member of the CPN-UML.

Koirala's Viewpoints

Koirala : Welcome Chat

Finally, former prime minister and Nepali Congress leader Girija Prasad Koirala found someone to speak on the political matters. Thanks to the two human rights activists Sudip Pathak and Malla K. Sunder, Congress leader Koirala disclosed the shortcomings as well as his political views regarding the ongoing political scenario. Human rights activist Pathak secured most of the publicity in the national as well as international media, which projected him as a spokesman of Koirala. As per his reports, Koirala still sticks to what he has been saying in the past regarding the resolution of political problems.

Capitalist Taste

Khanal : Modern tastes

Acting general secretary of CPN-UML Jhalnath Khanal has a long history of staying underground. During the 1990, he suddenly appeared at Tundikhel announcing that his long journey underground was over. Known as a cosmetic leader of the CPN-UML, acting general secretary Khanal has certain tastes that belie his communist ideology. Although he claims as a diehard communist, his tastes are similar to those of capitalists. From house to car, Khanal has taste for all things modern. Whether he is worried about them is or not, his party comrades are very much concerned about the lifestyle of their choosy comrade Khanal. Longer his underground situation lasts, more trouble Khanal has to face. Whether one likes it or not, Khanal needs to perform this role to prove his leadership quality.
