Arrange For Better Life

While you have reported in your cover story that the internally displaced people are transforming their life and learning new skills, there is a large chunk of people who have been living a miserable life because of their situation and educational level "INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS: Learning Entrepreneur Skills (SPOTLIGHT May 6)". Particularly, the women and children who have lost their husband or parents have been living a very miserable life. They have no skill or support to change their lives. Many women have been forced to resort to prostitution, while children have been dumped to the street. The government should immediately bring strategies to rehabilitate these people who have lost their ways in order to prevent a greater social problem that will follow the present disorder if things are not sorted out in time.

Serious Issue

If the rebels claim to be working for the rights of the people they should immediately stop actions that force people to leave their homes "INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS: Learning Entrepreneur Skills (SPOTLIGHT May 6)". What kind of life the displaced people have been living is another issue, but they should have the right to freely decide where and how they want to live. Although, as you have pointed out, the displaced people might be living a financially better life at present, their happiness with the present living style has to be considered.

Genuine Issue

The issue that you have raised in the cover story is very relevant "INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS: Learning Entrepreneur Skills (SPOTLIGHT May 6)". The news of murdered people or abducted people has been coming quite regularly in the mainstream media. The news of the forced migration has also got some coverage. However, the situation of the people after being displaced has not got much coverage in the media. At such times, it is a very good thing that you have meticulously studied how the people are running their lives after being displaced.

Different Perspectives

While it is bad that thousands of Nepalese are forced to leave their home because of the ongoing insurgency, it is very creative and laudable that you have rightly presented a different perspective to their lives "INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS: Learning Entrepreneur Skills (SPOTLIGHT May 6)". It is a good thing that they have learned the new ways of leading life. It is good to know that they have shifted from the subsistence economy and started to work more specifically. This has transformed their lives. You have rightly pointed out how 'every dark cloud has a silver lining'.

Inhumane Act

The way in which former prime minister Deuba was arrested from his home at midnight is very condemnable and no logic can justify such an inhumanely conducted move "DEUBA'S ARREST: Right To Live With Dignity (SPOTLIGHT May 6)". It is very ironic that while the supporters of the royal move on February 1, are trying to justify it as a compulsive move to rescue the country from its present crisis, the government (or the government mechanisms) continues with such pranks. What is more ironic is why cannot the government take the responsibility and apologize in public for this event when they concede that there could have been better way to arrest him. The vice chairman of the council of ministers himself has conceded in a public interview that Deuba's arrest would have been better if it had been done at a more convenient time.

Form A Regulatory Body

There is no denying that the music industry in the country has become very anarchical in the recent years "KUMAR BASNET: Crusader Of Copyrights (SPOTLIGHT May 6)". While, no control of quality in the songs that go the public is one problem, the daylight robbery of each others' creations is another and more grave a problem. As such, it is a good thing that a singer has been actively advocating for the copyright of artistes. Such people should be encouraged and supported by everyone with a good motive.
